A stolen scooter has been recovered and an e-bike confiscated after police frightened off three people on Tuesday December 17.
Officers confronted the trio on Old Road in Tintwistle following reports of reckless riding through the village.
They took off, abandoning the e-bike and a scooter that had been reported stolen.
“It is illegal for privately-owned e-scooters/e-bikes to be used on roads, cycle lanes, tracks, pavements and other public spaces,” said a statement from the Hadfield Safer Neighbourhood Team.
“Privately owned e-scooters/e-bikes can only be used on private land where there is no public access and with relevant permission from the landowner.
“Both these fall within the legal definition of a ‘motor vehicle’, therefore the laws that apply to motor vehicles apply to e-scooters/e-bikes.”
No arrests have been made.
