Buxton Lions Club has joined forces with five neighbouring Lions clubs to raise funds for the new Christie Cancer Hospital due to open in Macclesfield next year.
Calling themselves a “Pride of Lions”, the six clubs based in Alsager, Buxton, Congleton, Knutsford, Macclesfield and Vale Royal have set themselves a £10,000 target.
David Brindley, Secretary of Buxton Lions, said their aim is to fully equip one or two consulting rooms at the new facility which is currently under construction.
To help raise funds the Lions are calling on everyone to run or walk a virtual 10K fun run between 19 and 27 June.
You need to register by donating £10 (or more if you wish!) and then signing up for the Fun Run.
More information on how to get involved can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/lions10kforthechristie
The new hospital will cut travel times by more than half for over 1,500 patients each year, who currently have to travel to the Christie in Manchester.
