Derbyshire Police felt the need to post the dictionary definition of 'road closure' on social media, after motorists ignored the road closed signs after heavy snow and ice saw routes across the county closed.
In the Twitter post on Sunday, they stated: “For the avoidance of doubt please see the below dictionary definition of 'road closure'.
“Over the last 36 hours drivers have continued to ignore the big red signs across the county - they aren't out for fun they are there because the road is impassable.”

In the High Peak, many routes were still affected on Monday morning and many school remained closed, moved lessons online or delayed opening until later in the day.
