Police appeal for dash cam footage after motorcyclist is killed in Snake Pass collision

A motorcyclist has been killed following a crash with a car on the Snake Pass in Glossop. 

The crash, involving a blue Suzuki motorcycle and a Kia Picanto, occurred on Easter Sunday at around 11:20am and resulted in the road being closed in both directions for just over nine hours. 

The rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaos” as the police, fire engines, blood on board vehicles and an air ambulance arrived.  

A vehicle could be seen with smoke coming off it. 

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "The force was called to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the A57 Snake Pass at 11.20am today (31 March). At the scene the rider of a blue Suzuki motorcycle was pronounced deceased. His family are aware.

"The driver of the car, a Kia Picanto, were not seriously physically injured. The road was closed following the collision and reopened at 8.40pm."

The police are now appealing for witnesses who may have dash cam footage of the crash.
