Plans for telecommunications mast in Gamesley set to be approved

An 18-metre-high telecommunications mast is set to be given the go-ahead to be built in Gamesley.

The plans submitted by CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd go before High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee at their meeting in Buxton on Monday (8 November).

The application is for a mast, wrap around cabinet and associated works on council-owned land between the footpath and the road at the corner of Castleton Crescent, Melandra Castle Road and Glossop Road.

Two letters of objection have been received raising safety concerns over having a mast so close to homes as well as it being an eyesore and the pollution and environmental impact it would have.

The new equipment is part of the roll out of 5G for the Three network. While some existing sites can be upgraded additional new sites are also needed.

In supporting documents, the firm states that options for siting the new mast are extremely limited and the only viable solution that minimises amenity issues has been put forward.
