Youngsters from Padfield Community Primary School recently rolled up their sleeves to help boost biodiversity in the village.
Members of the school parliament spent an afternoon at Temple Street Field, where they helped to scarify the ground and sow wildflower seeds as part of a community project.
The pupils had been invited along by Padfield Community Spaces, the charity which recently bought the field and is working to transform it into a green space for everyone to enjoy. The children worked alongside volunteers, learning about nature and conservation in the process.

Padfield Community Spaces gave thanks saying: “Huge thanks to the School Parliament members at Padfield Community School for coming along today and helping to improve biodiversity on Temple Street Field by planting half of our wildflower meadow.”
The school said it was delighted to be involved and hopes to continue working with the charity in the future. A school representative added: “We’re really looking forward to working with Padfield Community Spaces again. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to visit the field, enrich our curriculum and enjoy the beautiful space they are creating.”
The project aims to create a vibrant natural area for wildlife and the local community, with more planting and activities planned in the months ahead. It is funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
