A man in his 80s has died in a collision in Glossop town centre.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics were called to High Street East on Tuesday 9th June shortly after 10am following reports of a serious incident. The road was closed between Norfolk Street and Victoria Street while emergency crews dealt with the situation.
In an update issued after the incident, Derbyshire Police confirmed that a Kia had collided with a wall on High Street East.
A spokesperson for the force said:
"We were called to reports of a one-car collision in High Street East, Glossop, at 10.15am on Tuesday 9 June.
"At the scene a Kia was found to have collided with a wall, trapping the driver and passenger inside.
"Despite life-saving efforts from both police officers and paramedics, the driver, a man in his 80s from Glossop, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It is believed that the man had suffered a medical episode and there were no other vehicles involved in the collision.
"The passenger suffered minor physical injuries. The man's family are aware."
