Local riders gear up for festive charity toy run

A motorcycle riders’ group based in Hadfield is inviting the community to come together this Christmas to support a local charity.

Spectrum Riders, a recently formed motorcycle group set up by Glossop resident Sam Thorpe and friends, is hosting a Christmas Toy Run on Saturday 13th December in aid of The Hummingbird Project - a Glossop charity.

The group is based at The Bike Hospital on Graphite Way in Hadfield, and its main aim is to build a strong community whilst raising money for local charities.

Sam said: “Spectrum Riders was created to bring people together. We organise social rides and gatherings, but most importantly, we want to give back and support local causes wherever we can.”

The Toy Run will see bikers from across the area arrive with new, unwrapped gift donations, before riding together to deliver them directly to The Hummingbird Project. The charity supports vulnerable children, families, and elderly residents, with all donations distributed through local social services and community organisations.

The event will start at The Bike Hospital, with doors opening from 11.30am. Visitors are welcome to come along for free brews and cake, have a chat and enjoy the atmosphere before the bikes set off at 1pm heading to the Hummingbird Project.

The event is open to everyone, whether they ride a motorcycle or not. Supporters are encouraged to stop by, enjoy a warm drink, and contribute by bringing along a gift for the collection box.

Sam added: “We’re hoping to get a good turnout of bikes to really show what the biker community can do when we come together. Anyone is welcome and every gift donated will help make someone’s Christmas special.”

Spectrum Riders hope the Toy Run will be the first of many charitable and community-led events, showcasing the positive impact local riders can have.

The Bike Hospital is a specialist motorcycle centre offering a full range of repair and maintenance services. Visit their website for more details: www.thebikehospital.com
