A restored historic building in the centre of Glossop has officially opened as a new venue for weddings, celebrations and community events.
The Old Town Hall, located above the recently reopened Market Hall, has been transformed as part of the town’s wider multi-million-pound regeneration project.
The Grade II-listed Italianate-style building, dating back to 1838, has been carefully restored to preserve its historic features while introducing modern facilities suitable for large events.
High Peak Borough Council led and funded the restoration, with the venue now operated by The Hospitality Collective. The space can accommodate up to 180 guests and is designed to host a wide range of occasions including weddings, corporate functions, conferences and community gatherings.
Inside, the building features a large historic ballroom with high ceilings and original architectural details. Large restored windows overlook Norfolk Square and offer views towards the surrounding Peak District landscape.
The venue also includes a dedicated bar serving a selection of drinks including local products from Glossop Distillery, as well as catering options provided through the venue’s partner Fork & Field. Event organisers will also be able to make use of food vendors based in the Market Hall below.
The opening of The Old Town Hall completes the wider redevelopment of the Municipal Buildings complex, bringing together the busy Market Hall with a new upstairs event space intended to serve the town for years to come.
Richard Walker, Managing Director of The Hospitality Collective, said the project marked an important moment for Glossop:
“The opening of The Old Town Hall is a momentous occasion for Glossop. While the Market Hall has already become the heartbeat of the town’s daily life, this upstairs space represents its soul. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that the restoration honours the building's civic history while providing a world-class venue that can host everything from a couple’s dream wedding to major community events. It is a space the whole town can truly be proud of.”
The venue is now open for bookings for weddings, private celebrations and events from 2026 onwards.
