High Peak Mayor visits Reuben's Retreat during renovation

Reuben’s Retreat supports families after child loss and families whose children may face an uncertain future by providing a place to Relax, Recharge, Remember and Rebuild.

The charity was founded in August 2012 following the tragic loss of Reuben Michael Graham aged just 23 months. His Mum vowed that his short but wonderful life would never be in vain, and she would build a legacy in his name.

The team at Reubens Retreat invited the Mayor of the High Peak, Councillor Stewart Gardner to the premises to give him a tour and show him all the work that goes on at the retreat.

Reuben’s Retreat walk side-by-side with families after child loss and families of children living with medical complexities, offering emotional and practical support by providing bespoke packages of care, therapies, wellbeing and activities such as peer support, counselling, memory-making, family fun days and sibling support.

Whilst currently supporting over 714 individuals, they are also renovating their ‘forever home’ in Glossop. The site comprises a fully renovated bereavement counselling and support centre with self-catering apartment and anactivity wing in the main building, housing a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, movie room and playroom.  Reuben’s Retreat are fundraising for the final stages of renovation, to build 2 fully accessible self-catering suites and 2 further suites for family breaks.

Plans for the renovation.
