Jon Pearce MP for High Peak has welcomed Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham’s confirmation that Bee Network rail services will reach Glossop by the end of 2026.

The Buxton line will follow in 2027, bringing integrated, contactless rail travel to communities across the High Peak.

Jon Pearce MP said:
“This is a transformational moment for Glossop, Buxton and the whole High Peak. For commuters travelling into Manchester, it means simpler fares, better connections and a transport system that finally works as one. For people coming the other way, it makes it easier than ever to visit the High Peak without needing a car. Joined-up rail, bus and tram services will support local economies, boost footfall and give local businesses the customers they need to thrive.”

The Manchester-Glossop line will be among the first to join the Bee Network in December 2026, with services between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton via Stockport set to follow in 2027. The move will extend the benefits of the Bee Network deeper into the Peak.

He added:
“With High Peak Borough Council’s newly reopened and regenerated Glossop Market Hall, there’s even more reason to ditch the car, jump on the train or bus and head into Glossop. This shows what can be achieved when local leaders work together through the Peak Partnership - real investment, better transport and real opportunities for commuters, visitors and businesses alike. This is Labour delivering for High Peak.”

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said:
“Bringing rail into the Bee Network is about making public transport simpler, fairer and more reliable for people across our city-region and beyond. Extending the Bee Network to Glossop and then Buxton will make it easier for people to travel into Greater Manchester and just as easy to get out and enjoy places like the High Peak - supporting each other’s economy, cutting car use and building a truly joined-up transport system.”
