The ‘VictoriARTS 25’ exhibition marked the fifth major art showcase organised by the Friends of Victoria Hall in just three years.
Building on previous curated events featuring three (‘Trio’) and four (‘Quartet’) local artists, this latest exhibition was the third large-scale gathering to bring together an impressive 60 artists from across Glossop.

The range and quality of work on display was remarkable, particularly for a town of Glossop’s size. Visitors enjoyed an eclectic mix of creative styles and mediums, from oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings to mixed media pieces, metalwork, collage, pen and ink, jewellery, sculpture, photography, textiles, digital art - and even original costume design.
More than 300 people visited the exhibition over the weekend, taking the opportunity to chat with the artists and then relax with tea, coffee and homemade cake in the hall’s welcoming social space.
These exhibitions are increasingly drawing attention from beyond the local area, attracting visitors from further afield and reaffirming Glossop’s growing reputation as a thriving artistic community.
The Friends of Victoria Hall say they have ambitious plans for the future of the building, and events of this calibre highlight exactly why this much-loved community space deserves continued support.
