Glossopdale School GCSE delight

Glossopdale students: Finley, Alex, Lucas, Riley and Kevin.

Glossopdale School and Sixth Form welcomed its Year 11 students back to school today (Thursday 21st August), to celebrate the amazing achievements in their GCSE examinations.

Once again, the results were the best the school has ever achieved and another improvement on last year’s excellent results with attainment and progress continuing to improve year on year. Progress is above the national average overall and in 21 of 23 subjects.

Staff enjoyed sharing the results, recognising the students’ years of hard work. They are testament to the commitment the Year 11 students have shown, the expertise and dedication of staff as well as the strong partnership with and support from students’ parents and carers.

As well as successes as a year group, there have been a number of notable individual successes, including:

  • Holly Gill achieved the highest overall grades in the school: five grade 9’s, three grade 8’s and a grade 7.
  • Jake Hall: three grade 9’s, five grade 8’s and a grade 7.
  • Ben McCollough: three grade 9’s, two grade 8’s, a level 2 distinction, a grade 7 and a grade 6.
  • Matthew Coley: two grade 9’s, three grade 8’s, a level 2 distinction, two grade 7’s and a grade 6.
  • Lizzie Boardley: two grade 9’s, two grade 8’s, a level 2 distinction and four grade 7’s.

They also had a significant number of students who made exceptional progress compared to their starting points. Their top 10 students for progress are: Jake Hall, Sophia Meinen, Mary Hampson, Beau Blake, Holly Gill, Ioan Milne, Scarlett Taylor, Millie Turner, Ava Bowler and Emma Stansfield.

Ms. Smith, Headteacher, said “We are absolutely delighted with the results. Our Year 11s have worked tirelessly and conscientiously for 5 years, and they thoroughly deserve to be beaming with pride. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces today. I’d like to thank the students for being so wonderful but also all of their families for supporting them throughout their journey. Well done Class of 2025! We’re so proud of you!”
