Glossopdale School recently hosted two special events, celebrating both the achievements of its students and helping them plan for the future.
On Wednesday, 10th December, the school held its annual Futures Fair, welcoming a diverse range of exhibitors from sectors including Hospitality, the Armed Forces, Building & Construction, Medicine & the NHS, the Police Force, the Department for Education (DfE) & Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Manchester City FC and many more.
The Sports Hall was transformed into a vibrant exhibition centre, giving students the chance to engage in inspiring conversations about future pathways and gain valuable insights into careers and opportunities beyond school. Every year group attended, and the event sparked many thoughtful discussions about life after Glossopdale.

One student, Amelia, shared her experience: “I enjoyed the Futures Fair because it gave me a good insight into different job opportunities for my future. It was fun and my friends and I were able to see examples of careers available both in the local area and wider afield. We also met with representatives from our Sixth Form and other Colleges and further education providers of different types. It was different to other types of Careers education we've had before and was really enjoyable!”
Stallholders were full of praise for the courtesy, engagement and friendliness shown by the students. They were also treated to a delicious lunch prepared by Glossopdale’s Enterprise Club, which was very well received.
The entire event was expertly coordinated by Mr Taylor, following months of meticulous planning. The school reported that they were extremely proud of the success of this event and the positive feedback from both students and exhibitors.

The following evening, Thursday 11th December, Glossopdale welcomed back last year’s Year 11 students and their families for the GCSE Certificate Presentation Evening.
The evening began with light refreshments in The Heart, followed by formal presentations in The Theatre. This special occasion provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the students – not only in their GCSE and Level 2 vocational subjects, but also in their extra-curricular and sporting successes.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of our Student of the Year Award to Holly G, alongside a series of Special Awards recognising the dedication, talent and excellence consistently demonstrated by our students.
Mrs Geary, Assistant Associate Headteacher for Key Stage 4, said: “It was fantastic to see our former students return and celebrate their achievements. Their dedication and resilience throughout their time at Glossopdale was inspiring, and we wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”
Glossopdale School thanked all parents, carers, and guests for joining both events and expressed pride in its students’ accomplishments, looking forward to their continued success both academically and in future careers.
