Glossop will once again enjoy a full timetable of festivities, as the town prepares for its big Christmas Lights Switch-On in Norfolk Square
The event will take place on Saturday 29th November from 11am to 8pm. Organised by JT Events, it promises a full day of festive entertainment, family fun and seasonal treats - all leading up to the grand lights switch-on at 7pm.
The stage will be hosted throughout the afternoon by radio presenter Leighton Morris, with a packed programme of live performances showcasing local talent. Festivities begin at 2pm and continue right through to the evening celebration:
- 2.00pm: Limelight Musical Theatre
- 2.30pm: Conundrum Drummers
- 3.00pm: The 21st Amendment Band
- 4.00pm: Conundrum Drummers
- 4.30pm: Long in The Tooth Band
- 5.30pm: Limelight Musical Theatre
- 6.00pm: Rockin’ Red Rocket
- 6.50pm: Mentell Glossop accompanied by the Mayor, Councillor Dom Elliot-Starkey.
- 7.00pm: Grand Christmas Lights Switch-On
- 7.05pm: Glossop Old Band
Norfolk Square will be transformed into a festive hub packed with stalls, food and family attractions. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of festive market stalls, hot food vendors offering German sausages, pizza, crepes, burgers, hot dogs, curry, doughnuts and sweets for the perfect Christmas treat, plus barista coffee and hot chocolate. Also a festive bar from Lubens, serving mulled wine, mulled cider and beer.
There will be funfair rides and a chance to meet Santa, courtesy of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.
The event is free to attend and organisers are encouraging everyone to wrap up warm, bring the whole family and enjoy what promises to be a magical day in the heart of Glossop.
