Glossop race driver nominated for illustrious award

Glossop speed demon Alisha Palmowski is celebrating after being nominated for the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BDRC) Young Driver of the Year award.

Alisha lies in 3rd place in her debut season in the GB4 Championship, and with wins under her belt at Oulton Park – in her first single seater race - and Snetterton, she still has a chance of claiming the title with two rounds remaining.

She is one of 10 shortlisted drivers, who also include current F1 Academy Championship leader Abbi Pulling, and previous nominees Callum Voisin and Arvid Lindblad.

“I am very proud to announce that I have been selected in the final 10 contenders for the 2024 Silverstone Autosport BRDC Award!” Alisha said after her nomination was made public.

“It is an honour to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award amongst a group of such high calibre racing talent - thank you British Racing Drivers’ Club.”

2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button, 4-time IndyCar Series title winner Dario Franchitti, and current F1 drivers George Russell and Lando Norris are all past winners of the prize.
