Glossop menopause group offers support and connection

A support group for women experiencing menopause is offering a welcoming space in Glossop to share experiences, access information and connect with others in the local community.

Just Pause..., organised by the Friends of Victoria Hall, will hold its second meeting at Victoria Hall in Glossop, on Thursday 1st October, from 7pm to 9pm. The group follows two successful taster sessions held earlier in the year. 

The evening is open to women experiencing perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause or surgical or induced menopause. Meetings are designed to provide an informal and friendly environment where women can talk openly, ask questions and share experiences without judgement. 

Each session will feature guest speakers, covering different aspects of menopause and offering an opportunity for attendees to find out more about the physical, emotional and practical issues that can arise during this stage of life. 

October’s meeting will feature Dr Emma Ward, who has worked as a GP for 19 years and has a particular interest in the field, alongside Bee Innis, a gut health naturopathic nutritionist who helps people improve their digestive health naturally and take control of their symptoms. 

There will also be an information stand from Rebecca Lalley of MyActive Glossop, a personal trainer who is herself going through menopause and understands some of the challenges women can face with energy, confidence and motivation. 

The Just Pause... group will meet on the first Thursday of each month, with October’s meeting taking place during Menopause Awareness Month. 

The organisers hope the group will become a regular local source of trusted information, peer support and signposting to useful services, while also providing an opportunity for women to meet others, have a chat, laugh and share their experiences. 

Attendance is free, although donations towards refreshments are welcome.
