Glossop Cubs achieve highest honour

Cubs Joseph, William, Archie, Mack, Joseph, Abi and Cameron.

Seven cubs from Third Glossop Cub Pack have achieved the Silver Chief Scout Award - the award is the highest badge a cub scout can earn, taking around two and a half years to complete.

They cubs were awarded the badge and certificate by leader Dave Woodward following a performance for their Entertainers’ Badge.

The award involves undertaking a series of challenges to develop and demonstrate skills, undertake adventurous and outdoor activities, lead a team and help others in the community. Cubs also need to have attended several camps.

The cubs who achieved the award were Joseph, William, Archie, Mack, Joseph, Abi and Cameron. Joseph said he enjoyed adventure camps that included climbing and crate stacking, and the others said their best memories were canoeing, skiing and cooking on fires.

Before the award ceremony, the whole cub pack put on a performance involving circus skills, dance and singing and some cubs played instruments.

Third Glossop Cubs and Scouts are looking for new leaders. Anyone interested, along with parents who want to register their children for membership. can email: david.woodward@glossopdistrictscouts.org.uk
