This winter, Jonathan Seville, owner of Glossop Logs and More, is bringing a little extra warmth to local homes in need.
The Glossop-based business owner is offering free logs, coal and kindling to anyone struggling to heat their home during these challenging times.
Jonathan, who has run Glossop Logs and More for three years, says the idea came from a simple desire to give back to his community. “Within the local area of Glossop, I just want to give back where I can” he says. “Everyone’s feeling the pinch, including myself, but I just want to help – elderly people, families, those just trying to catch a break. Bills rock up, and before you know it, you can’t afford to put the heating on. I want to help anybody that genuinely needs it.”
Those in need are invited to message Jonathan via his business Facebook page (Glossop Logs and More) to arrange deliveries of logs, coal or kindling. All requests will be treated confidentially, with no-one made to feel embarrassed.
Alongside logs and coal, Jonathan also sells real Christmas trees as part of his business, with trees ranging from five to eight feet, available for collection from his Turnlee Road base. In addition to selling trees, he donates Christmas trees each year to a local charity or to someone who may not otherwise be able to afford one.
This year, Jonathan has donated a tree to Reuben’s Retreat, a much-loved charity renowned for its outstanding work supporting families and children.
Jonathan’s generosity has inspired others in the community to contribute. A local customer, wishing to remain anonymous, recently offered his support so that Jonathan can provide even more help this winter.
Jonathan’s kindness reflects a wider commitment to his community. He and his wife Charlotte also own Sandra’s The Enchanted Forest in Glossop, and she has donated wreaths and bouquets to charity events and fundraisers.
“It’s all about doing a bit of good where there’s a bit of bad,” Jonathan explains. “I want people to feel comfortable asking for help. They don’t need to prove themselves, and they mustn’t feel embarrassed. Charity starts at home, and if we can’t do that, what can we do?”
This winter, families, elderly residents and anyone facing difficulties with heating are encouraged to reach out. Jonathan’s message is simple: “I’d rather help someone than leave them struggling.”
