Litter and fly-tipping is becoming an increasing problem on our roads.
Motorways, as well as A and B roads are used by millions of motorists across the country every day.
And locally, the Woodhead pass has many layby's where motorists are using these as a dumping ground for not just everyday waste but also fly tipping on a huge scale.
National Highways say "litter is a serious issue. It harms the environment. It also puts our people at risk when they have to collect it and it diverts time and money that’s better spent on improving the road network"
The problem has become so serious that the RSPCA are saying the discarded litter is injuring and killing thousands of animals each year
This week we joined forces with National Highways, RSPCA and other partners at the clean-up on the A628 Woodhead Road
