Derbyshire Adult Education: Have your say

A series of consultation events have been arranged to give residents the chance to comment on proposals to change the way adult education is delivered across Derbyshire.

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a wide range of views on options to ensure the Derbyshire Adult Education Service (DAES) is fit for the future and has the greatest impact on people who need the most support.

Recent changes to the way adult education is funded have created an opportunity to review how the service operates, with the aim of making it more flexible and responsive. The council says this could help even more people gain qualifications and develop skills to support their future opportunities.

Residents are being encouraged to take part in the consultation by completing an online questionnaire – see link below. Paper copies are also available and can be requested by emailing: future.daces@derbyshire.gov.uk or by calling 01629 531241.

In addition, a number of drop-in events are being held across the county where people can get support from council staff to complete the survey. In Glossop, drop-in sessions will take place at Glossop Adult Education Centre on:

🔹 13 January: 12:30pm to 3:30pm

🔹 14 January: 9:30am to 12:30pm

Cabinet Member for SEND and Education, Councillor Simon Mabbott, said “It’s really important that we get a range of views to help us shape our services so they are fit for the future.

“We’re committed to delivering high-quality adult education and recent funding changes, together with the changing needs of Derbyshire communities, give us an opportunity to make sure learning is flexible, supports people who need it most and is delivered in locations where they’ll get the best from it.

“I’d like to reassure everyone that no decisions will be made about the future of these services until we have had the chance to hear people’s views and take them fully into account.”

The consultation runs until midnight on Sunday 22 February. You can have your say by visiting:
