Critical Care Team goes the extra mile for patients

A dedicated team from the Critical Care department at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust will be taking on the Four Meres Challenge in Saddleworth on Sunday 12 July to raise funds for Tameside & Glossop NHS Charity.

Setting off at 8.30am, the team will tackle a demanding 16-mile trek through Saddleworth's historic countryside, following the renowned Four Meres route. Funds raised will help the charity support projects and enhancements within the Critical Care unit at Tameside Hospital, benefiting patients, families and staff.

The event highlights the team's dedication to improving the experience of those who rely on Critical Care services, both through the care they provide every day and through their efforts beyond the workplace.

Emily Whelan, Charity Manager for Tameside & Glossop NHS Charity, said "we're incredibly grateful to the Critical Care team for choosing to support the charity through this fantastic fundraising effort. Their dedication to helping others extends far beyond their day-to-day roles, and every pound raised will help us fund initiatives that enhance care and provide additional support to patients, families and staff. We wish them every success as they take on the Four Meres Challenge."

Sarah Penkett, Advanced Critical Care Practitioner, the organised of the walk, said "working in Critical Care, we see first-hand how important it is to provide the best possible environment and support for patients and their loved ones. We wanted to take on something that would challenge us as a team while giving back to a cause that directly benefits the people we care for. We're looking forward to completing the route together and raising as much as we can for the charity."
