Community to lose popular newsagents

A long-running newsagents has reportedly entered liquidation, according to a notice displayed in the window on Tuesday 19th May.

The notice states that Simmondley News Ltd, which houses the Post Office is “entering into liquidation” and that insolvency specialists Parker Walsh have been appointed to handle matters relating to the process.

The sign apologises for any inconvenience caused and provides contact details for enquiries relating to the liquidation.

The closure will come as a shock to many local residents, with the business having served the community for a number of years.

No further details about the reasons behind the liquidation have yet been made public.

Residents have already begun expressing sadness at the news on social media, with many describing the shop as a valued part of the local community.
