Celebration and success mark end of term at Glossopdale

Students at Glossopdale School and Sixth Form have enjoyed a week filled with celebration and achievement, as the spring term came to a close.

Pupils from all year groups took part in the Golden Ticket Prize Draw, a series of Easter reward trips and a range of THRIVE assemblies.

A standout moment was the Golden Ticket Prize Draw, during which four students - Alphin H, Jamie B, Masie E and Ellie B - were selected as Easter prize winners. The school congratulated each of them on their fantastic achievement.

The Easter celebrations continued with two special prize draws where students received Easter eggs. The first recognised those who achieved 100% attendance throughout the term, a remarkable accomplishment demonstrating dedication and resilience. The second, the Zero Heroes Easter Egg Draw, acknowledged students who achieved zero lates, zero absences and zero behaviour points. These students were praised for representing the highest standards of the school community. Although not every Zero Hero could receive an Easter egg, all were applauded for their exceptional commitment and effort.

The school’s programme of Easter Rewards Trips brought excitement across all year groups. Year 7 students enjoyed a screening of Minecraft in the school theatre, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Year 8 and Year 11 visited the Trafford Centre, where they took part in shopping, bowling and a cinema visit. Meanwhile, Year 9 travelled to Marple Cinema to watch Jumanji, and Year 10 visited Alton Towers. Spirits were high, with the day filled with energy, laughter and plenty of smiles as students embraced the opportunity to unwind and spend quality time with their peers.

Staff extended their thanks to all students for their excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and maturity. Those supervising the trips praised the positive atmosphere and the supportive interactions among students, which contributed to a relaxed, enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone involved.

In addition to the trips, the school held Rewards and Progress Assemblies for each year group. These assemblies recognised academic achievement, personal development and contributions to school life, celebrating the many ways students continue to learn, grow and thrive.

A particular highlight was the Year 8 THRIVING Moments Recognition Event, held on Wednesday afternoon. Every single Year 8 student was celebrated for their progress and achievements this year. The event was filled with joy as students received postcards from staff, badges, certificates, prizes, gifts, “skip the queue” passes and invitations to a reward hot chocolate breakfast, among many other tokens of recognition. The school said it was incredibly proud of Year 8 for their hard work, enthusiasm and positivity throughout the year.

The week was described as a truly memorable celebration of positivity, gratitude and school pride, and a wonderful way to bring the term to a close. Staff added that students were a credit to the school.
