Derbyshire Police say 13 blank firing guns have been handed in as part of a month-long amnesty ahead of them being made illegal.
Owners have surrenders more than 1,000 of the top-venting blank firing (TVBF) weapons made by four Turkish manufacturers: Blow, Ceonic, Ekol and Retay.
Although their barrels are fully blocked and can only shoot blank rounds, criminals have found ways to convert them to fire live ammunition, meaning that possessing one could lead to ten years in prison.
The force has urged anybody with a TVBF gun in the High Peak to hand them in at Buxton police station.
The nationwide amnesty runs until Friday February 28.
