Bringing a taste of Italy to Glossop, family-run business Baci Di Gelato is quickly making its mark with a blend of tradition, creativity and award-winning quality.
Founded by husband and wife team, Jonathan and Erin Susca, with a little help from their 11-year old son Arlo, the brand is rooted in years of ice cream expertise.
“Ice cream has been in our family for generations, and Jonathan is an expert in the industry” Erin explains. “We wanted to bring our ancestor’s authentic Italian recipe to Glossop and share our passion with the community.”
Based in the beautifully refurbished Glossop Market Hall, their parlour offers far more than a typical ice cream experience. With a focus on craftsmanship and high-quality ingredients, including locally sourced milk from the farm Milkmilk-o-licious in Matley, each product is made with care and expertise. Gelato itself differs from standard ice cream, containing less fat and air, resulting in a smoother texture and more intense flavour.
Since moving into the Market Hall full-time in November 2025, the business has grown rapidly. What began as a side venture at weddings and events has now expanded into a thriving operation, employing a team of nine and even outgrowing its original kitchen space. A new manufacturing unit in Dinting allows the team to keep up with demand, with their products also stocked by other local businesses, such as Sowerbutts on the High Street and Lymefield Garden Centre.

Central to Baci Di Gelato’s appeal is its creativity. Alongside popular flavours such as cherry delight, Sicilian lemon cheesecake and indulgent Biscoff creations, customers can enjoy more unusual combinations - from rhubarb and lavender to blackcurrant and liquorice.
Bespoke flavours are available upon request, created within just a few days. “Jonathan loves a challenge” Erin says. “I call him the Willy Wonka of the ice cream world as he can create just about anything!”
One of the brand’s standout features is its unique gelato slicing method. Rather than simply scooping, the gelato is carefully layered and served in slices, creating a visually striking, cake-like dessert.
Alongside this, the menu includes everything from sundaes and milkshakes to cannoli and semifreddo - a rich and decadent mousse-like frozen dessert that has quickly become a customer favourite. A popular loyalty card scheme rewards returning customers, with a free slice to enjoy after collecting nine stamps.

Unsurprisingly, the superb quality and innovation behind Baci Di Gelato has not gone unnoticed, with the business recently named as Best Newcomer at the prestigious Golden Scoop Awards.
With a growing presence at community events, more local stockists, and a mobile cart in the Market Hall’s outdoor seating area, Baci Di Gelato continues to expand - and the Susca family’s pride in the business is clear: “We don’t just want to serve gelato - we want every visit to feel special. Every slice we serve and every smile from our customers really does mean so much to us.”
