Police in Chapel-en-le-Frith are asking residents to be vigilant after reports of man with his face covered approaching a young girl.
Derbyshire Constabulary have appealed for CCTV or doorbell footage between 5:30-5:45pm on Saturday October 5, of someone described as being tall and wearing dark clothes and boots.
They are particularly keen to hear from people in the Beresford Road, Moss View Road, Warmbrook Road and Westbrook Close area of the town.
“The male spoke to a child who ran off and reported the incident to their family,” said a statement from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team.
“We will be patrolling the area today and if you have any information please speak with officers. These types of incidents are very rare and please take reassurance that enquiries are ongoing.
“The High Peak is a safe place to live and work and by working together we can continue to keep it a safe area.”
The force asks anyone with information to contact them on 101 and quote reference 984-051024.
