Pet owners have a brand-new destination for all their pet care needs, as Pets at Home have opened a new combined pet care centre and Vets for Pets veterinary practice.
The £1 million investment at Wren Nest has transformed the previously vacant Brantano unit, empty for nearly a decade, into a 7,600 sq ft facility combining retail and veterinary services. The new centre replaces Pets at Home’s former location under Wren Nest Mill.
The veterinary practice is part of Vets for Pets’ growing network of locally owned surgeries. Joint practice owners Dr Ibrahim Ozkan and Registered Veterinary Nurse Leanne Wood will lead the Glossop team with full clinical and operational autonomy. Facilities include dedicated cat and dog waiting areas, diagnostic equipment such as digital x-rays and ultrasound, operating theatres and an in-house laboratory, giving local pet owners easy access to expert veterinary care. Free parking is available on site.
Leanne Wood said:
“Ibrahim and I are incredibly excited to open our purpose-built practice inside the brand-new Pets at Home Petcare Centre. We have been practising in the area for several years and our passionate team are dedicated to providing first opinion care for local pets.”
The grand opening took place on Friday 13th March, with the Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Dom Starkey, cutting the ribbon. Pet owners attending enjoyed a range of activities, including free goodie bags, face painting, pupcakes for dogs (and cupcakes for well-behaved humans!), £10 ‘nose-to-tail’ veterinary check-ups and behind-the-scenes tours of the practice.
The new centre will create local jobs and offers a convenient one-stop destination for everything from nutritional advice and grooming to veterinary care.
Vets for Pets is part of Pets at Home, one of the UK’s leading pet care brands. It brings together more than 450 stores, over 350 grooming salons, and almost 500 veterinary practices across the country. The group is one of the largest veterinary networks in the UK, with each practice run by partners who maintain clinical freedom and independence.
