Hyde Festival Theatre's traditional family production promises a twist or two
Hyde Festival Theatre promises to pull out all the stops to stage one of the most memorable panto productions of Snow White you’ve ever seen.
But you’ll have to be quick to catch it - oh yes you will - as tickets are selling fast.
And little wonder as Dame Daphne - (aka Scott Robert) - revealed on Tameside Radio this week that she (he) will be donning a sporting cheerleader outfit and showing off her (his) shapely pins.
It’s likely to be a highlight of the show, but with a cast of more than 40, including a highly talented and accomplished cast, dancers and singers, there are sure to be many of those.
Having rehearsed for many months, this production will deliver a host of special effects, and while entirely traditional you can expect to enjoy some twists and turns. Plus the panto has drawn local celebrity support in the shape of Syndicate and comedian Stephen Bailey.
Director Dan Oliver-Grant is encouraging everyone to support their local amateur theatre pantos this year - whether that is at Hyde Festival or a community show more local to you.
“Support your local groups - the performers are doing it not because they are being paid, but for the sheer enjoyment of being on stage, helping and putting a smile on people’s faces,” he says.
The family panto Snow White, produced by Sparks Dramatic Society opens this Sunday at Hyde Festival Theatre with relaxed and BSL signed versions, before continuing next week from Tuesday, December 2 to Saturday, December 6. Shows start at 7.15pm with matinees at 1.15pm.
