Aladdin brings the magic of panto to the Plaza

TALENTED TEAM: The cast from Aladdin were all a hit.

Family show delights audiences of all ages

Aladdin visited the Stockport Plaza and certainly dazzled its magic to the audience. The pantomime was filled with fun and comedy -  perfect for family outings.
The show was full of engaging songs, audience interaction and extravagant effects.

A key moment was the magic carpet ride. This was because the stage was blacked out and a spotlight followed Aladdin, played by CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual, on his carpet while singing beautifully. It was a highly effective creative choice as it contrasted from the rest of the show with its flamboyant set and lighting.
Scott Gallagher, who played the role of ‘Wishee Washee,’ had the audience in hysterics with his comedic mannerisms.

He had the theatre-goers singing and engaging with the show, which is what pantomimes are all about! Gallagher successfully carried his silly, yet entertaining, role profoundly - he was a joy to watch.

The bad guy Abanazar, was played with menacing evil by Coronation Street baddie Brian Capron, who played Richard Hillman in the soap - he tried to take the Platt family to an early watery grave in the canal in Portland Basin in Ashton.

The ensemble added so much energy to the performance through their captivating dance numbers and helped to convey the story.

The Plaza is a stunning venue with an interesting history; the seats were filled with loud cheers showcasing the importance of theatre.

All in all, Aladdin was a compelling pantomime full of talent and hard work.
Aladdin finished on January 4 - oh no it hasn’t, oh yes it has - but fear not, The Plaza have other incredible shows on offer all year.
