Residents across Tameside are being invited to enjoy a celebration of music and community spirit as young performers from Tameside Music Service join forces with world-renowned orchestra Manchester Camerata for two free concerts in Stalybridge.
The special performances will take place on Sunday 5 October at Stalybridge Civic Hall, with concerts scheduled for 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Both are open to all, with no booking required.
Audiences can look forward to a joyful programme blending classical and contemporary pieces, performed by talented local musicians alongside professionals from Manchester Camerata. The concerts aim to uplift and inspire, while showcasing the skills of the borough’s young people.
Tameside Music Service, which works with over 7,000 young people and adults across the borough, plays a vital role in nurturing and equipping musicians of all ages to take their next steps in music.
The lunchtime events form part of the “Here We Are” tour, a five-day celebration organised by Manchester Camerata across all 10 districts of Greater Manchester. The tour is designed to bring world-class music directly into local communities, celebrating connection, creativity and collaboration.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, praised the event, saying: “It’s wonderful to see such young, talented musicians have the opportunity to showcase their musical gifts. Thank you to those who have organised this event and to Tameside Music Service for giving our young people the space to grow, learn and express themselves through music. If you’re able to join us, don’t miss the chance to be part of such a positive afternoon!”
