Workshop aimed to help tackle inequality in Tameside

Community groups came together to help kickstart a new chapter in tackling inequalities in Tameside.

Tameside Council’s lead for Population Health and Equalities Cllr Taf Sharif led the workshop, at Dukinfield Town Hall,  bringing together community groups, councillors, policymakers, and public services to discuss new ways of addressing the borough’s inequalities

The event was aimed at revitalising the Inequalities Reference Group, which was established in 2020.

Cllr Sharif said: "I am deeply committed to working together to celebrate diversity and reduce inequality in Tameside. It was inspiring to see so many thoughtful suggestions and an atmosphere of collaboration throughout the session.

"The energy in the room was incredible, and it was an invaluable opportunity to unite our efforts and set the stage for meaningful change. It left us more determined than ever to make a lasting impact."

"This workshop marks an important step forward in a shared commitment to a fairer, more equitable future for all in Tameside.
