Working for your community? need funds? Tameside Rotary can help

Community groups across Tameside are being invited to apply for funding through Tameside Rotary’s popular cash awards scheme, ‘Small Grants, Big Difference’.

The initiative offers grants of up to £500 to local groups, charities, clubs, societies and other organisations that support community life within the borough.

Throughout the year, Tameside Rotarians, all volunteers, organise and run a variety of fundraising events. The money raised is then distributed back into the local community to help projects and organisations continue their valuable work.

The grants currently available have been made possible thanks to the generous support of residents and local businesses who contributed to the 2025 Tameside Rotary Santa Float collection.

Tameside Rotary is now keen to hear from a wide range of groups representing a broad spectrum of causes. Whether supporting vulnerable residents, improving local spaces or running activities for young people, the club is looking for projects where a modest grant could make a meaningful difference to those they serve.

Last year’s Small Grants, Big Difference scheme saw 27 local groups from across the borough receive funding. The supported projects reflected the diversity and strength of Tameside’s voluntary sector and included:

  • Preparing and delivering hot meals to vulnerable residents
  • Developing and running community hubs and gardens, and transforming green spaces
  • Environmental and arts-based projects for children and young people
  • Recycling initiatives
  • Support groups assisting people living with dementia, mental health concerns, loneliness or isolation, and potentially life-limiting conditions
  • Support for Scouts, Brownies and other youth organisations
  • Purchasing essential equipment and materials to boost fundraising and community-led activities

With demand expected to be high once again, groups are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The closing date for applications is 27 March 2026.

Guidance notes and an application form can be found on the Tameside Rotary website at: www.TamesideRotaryClub.com.
