The magical Northern Lights Winter Parade is set to return to Stalybridge this Saturday, 15 November, bringing with it a dazzling display of colour, creativity, and community spirit to mark the official start of Tameside’s festive celebrations.

The much-loved annual event promises a free evening of sparkling culture and celebration, featuring unforgettable lantern displays, vibrant performances, and an atmosphere brimming with festive cheer.

The parade will take place from 5pm to 6pm, with stunning creations made in local workshops lining the route and lighting the way. As the procession reaches its finale, the evening will conclude in true seasonal style with the switching on of Stalybridge’s Christmas tree lights.

Adding to the festivities, this year’s celebration will coincide with a special festive edition of Stalybridge Street Fest, running from 4pm to 8pm. Visitors can enjoy delicious food, live entertainment, and family fun throughout the evening. Earlier in the day, the Artisan Markets will kick off the Christmas celebrations in Stalybridge Civic Hall from 11am, offering a perfect opportunity to pick up unique gifts and festive treats.

The event is organised by Tameside Council in partnership with creative collaborators Global Grooves, Cabasa, and No Eyed Theatre, alongside local artists, community groups, and dedicated volunteers. Together, they promise an unforgettable evening that will shine a light on the incredible creativity and community spirit that make Tameside so special.
