Volunteering opportunities now available at Age UK Tameside

Age UK Tameside is appealing for more volunteers as it looks to strengthen its support for older people and widen the help it can offer across the borough.

The charity says it is seeking caring, reliable and passionate people who have a few hours to spare each week and want to make a positive difference in their local community. A wide range of opportunities is available, from administration and finance to driving, kitchen duties and direct support for clients.

Volunteering with Age UK Tameside is described as a chance to gain more than just experience. Volunteers can make new friends, build confidence, learn practical skills and improve their own wellbeing while helping others. The charity says it wants to hear from anyone who is enthusiastic about supporting people and contributing to their community.

Roles are available across different settings, depending on the volunteer’s interests and availability. Some opportunities are based at the charity’s centre in Ashton, while others take place in people’s homes or at community venues across Tameside. That flexibility, the charity says, means there should be something suitable for a wide range of applicants.

🔷 131 Club Support (based at our centre in Ashton)
🔷 131 Club Kitchen Assistant (based at our centre in Ashton)
🔷 Dementia Buddy at Home (out in the community)
🔷 Volunteer Driver

Training is provided for all volunteers, along with the support of a dedicated volunteer buddy to help them settle into their role and continue to receive guidance. The charity says it values dependable people who can commit to being punctual and consistent, but it is happy to work with volunteers offering as much time as they can spare.

Age UK Tameside says its volunteers are at the heart of everything it does. They help the organisation deliver services and support older residents in practical, personal and meaningful ways. By giving their time, volunteers can play a direct role in helping the charity continue its work in the local area.

The charity is based at 131 Katherine Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 7AW.
