The sun shone on this year’s Denton Carnival with huge numbers coming out to support and be part of the annual event.
The Denton Carnival has a long history, stretching back over many decades, but has run intermittently in recent times and was paused due to the pandemic.
The carnival was revived last year and thanks to dedicated volunteers and the creation of a new committee, the parade and Victoria Park funfair was able to go ahead again as usual - and in real style.
The weather helped with crowds lining the streets on Sunday to enjoy a colourful parade under glorious blue skies led by the City of Manchester Pipe Band.
Mossley-based Global Grooves were also involved, parading with one of their amazing carnival puppet creations.
Others joining the fabulous spectacle included Babyballet Tameside, Venture Disability Care, Denton Netball Club, Lane’s Dance Academy, Rhythm Carnival Troupe, St John Ambulance, Gibsons Dance Academy, Apex Cheer HQ, Active Tameside, Stars Dance Academy, Rossendale Drum Majorettes, Haughton Green Junior Football Club, New Central Performing Arts and a Robinsons Brewery’s vintage vehicle.
Following the parade the entertainment led directly to Denton’s Victoria Park and the J W Shaw Amusements funfair, while the afternoon was packed with music, singing and dancing.
Entertainers included DJ Steve, the Rossendale Drum Majorettes, Lane’s Dance Academy, Baby Ballet Tameside, Central Performing Arts, Gibsons Dance Academy and more.
Other entertainment was provided with a dog show and even a last minute bike show, courtesy of Weekend Riders MCR.
With dozens of stalls offering everything from family activities, refreshments and advice, the 2025 Carnival has already been hailed a remarkable success and fantastic event.
Organisers thank everyone for all of their efforts, support and sponsorship in making the carnival a memorable one.
