The ever-popular Stalybridge Street Fest event is returning next month. Friday, April 10 marks the return of the Tameside town for its fifth year.

Every year, hundreds of residents head to Armentieres Square, Stalybridge for delicious food, live entertainment, and family friendly fun. 2026 is no different, with a plethora of events planned for each month between April and November.

The council has promised a packed agenda of entertainment including local talent, live music and activities for all ages. Naturally, there is also a fantastic array of food and drink traders going to be on offer, with cuisines from around the world.

The street fest will be returning on the second Friday of the month, every month from April to November, 5pm-9pm. The November date is yet to be confirmed as the local authority aims to avoid clashes with Christmas festivities.

The Victoria Market Hall will be utilised as an Artisan Market bringing a range of traders offering unique, locally sourced, homemade products and treats. Previous markets have included brownies, soaps, honey, candles.

This is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the area. It is one of the many reasons investment in Stalybridge is rife.

The town centre is currently undergoing redevelopment works. The idea behind the move from Tameside council is to ‘make the area greener, safer, and more welcoming for residents, visitors, and businesses’.

The scheme includes six priority projects funded through the Government’s Capital Regeneration Projects fund.

Improvements across Market Street; Armentieres Square; Trinity Street; Grosvenor Square; Corporation Street and Old Town Hall Gardens; upgrading lighting and surfaces to offer safer pedestrian routes; and new areas for events and community use are all touted.

This £20m regeneration scheme focuses on enhancing the town’s public spaces and attracting visitors to support local businesses; highlight Stalybridge’s cultural heritage; and attract further investment and growth.

Tameside council leader, Coun Eleanor Wills said: “We’re so excited for the return of Stalybridge Street Fest. Year after year, it delivers an amazing community evening of fun and excitement for our residents.

“Stalybridge has so much to offer, and this event guarantees footfall and attraction to the town. We love to see the involvement of local traders, talent and businesses too.

“Don’t miss out on the amazing community event – get the dates in your calendars and tell your family and friends.”
