The 19-year-old was rushed to hospital and had been fighting for his life.

Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a group of males with machetes on Saturday 31st May.

The 19-year-old had fallen 'from a height' whilst fleeing from police on Bentick Street in Ashton-under-Lyne at the end of last month.

The teen was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed in an update this morning, 18th June, that he has since died following the incident, and that the boys family have been made aware.

GMP officers were called to reports of a group of males with machetes making threats towards individuals at a property on Bentinck Street, Ashton at 7.20pm on Saturday 31 May 2025.

In a previous statement GMP said how "the three men reportedly tried to leave the property, with one exiting through a lower balcony, and the other two falling off the upper balcony from height."

Detective Superintendent Gareth Jenkins from the Tameside District said at the time: “The two injured parties, aged 14 and 19, have been taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries, with the older male in a critical condition.

"These males are under the detention of officers pending their medical treatment, and another male has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

"Enquiries are ongoing to determine all of those involved and the full circumstances of what has happened in the lead up to the incident. Suspected drugs and a weapon have been recovered."
