
The appointment of Eleanor Wills as the new leader of Tameside Council will be formally considered at a special full council meeting on Thursday.
Once the new leader and cabinet are in place, the council then start the process of making interim arrangements as work continues to find a new chief executive.
This will include the calling of an Appointments Panel, comprising of the leader, cabinet and members of the opposition.
Following this, another special meeting of Full Council is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, October 29, to formally appoint a new interim chief executive.
A council statement said: "As a Senior Leadership Team, we look forward to working with the new leadership, and are committed to delivering the substantial and sustainable improvements required by the authority.
"There is hard work ahead, but we also want to recognise there's an enormous amount of good work done every day across the organisation for the residents of Tameside. We are grateful for the dedication of everyone who works for Tameside Council, particularly during the recent challenging weeks."
