Thousands of children across Tameside could wake up to a brighter, more magical Christmas this year thanks to the return of the Tameside Toy Appeal 2025.
With the festive season fast approaching, Tameside Council and Action Together have once again joined forces to ensure no child in the borough misses out on the joy and excitement of Christmas morning. Their message is simple: every child deserves to feel special at Christmas, no matter their circumstances.
Residents are being urged to donate new and unused toys and gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0 to 18. Donations can be made from Monday 10 November until Friday 12 December 2025 at designated drop-off points across Tameside, including all Tameside Libraries and Family Hubs.
Every gift donated will go directly to a local child whose family is experiencing financial hardship. As many households continue to struggle with rising costs, some parents face heart-breaking decisions between heating their homes and putting food on the table. The Toy Appeal offers a vital chance for the community to come together, spread kindness, and share hope during the winter months.
To mark the official launch, Tameside Council Executive Leader Councillor Eleanor Wills, Executive Member for Children and Families Councillor Teresa Smith, and Chief Executive Emma Alexander gathered to underline the importance of supporting vulnerable families this festive season.
Cllr Eleanor Wills said: “Every year, the generosity of our residents amazes me. The Toy Appeal is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a community. If you’re able to donate, even a small gift can make a huge difference to a child’s Christmas.”
For those who prefer to give financially, contributions can be made via the Toy Appeal’s JustGiving page. Funds raised will be used to purchase gifts for age groups where donations are most needed. The deadline for online donations is Tuesday 23 December 2025, giving supporters extra time to contribute.
The Tameside Toy Appeal has become a cherished annual tradition—one that embodies the true spirit of the season. Organisers are once again calling on the generosity of residents, businesses, and community groups to ensure that every child in Tameside wakes up to something special on Christmas morning.
