Tameside takes part in the Live Well Spring Festival

Community led events are set take place across Tameside from the 9-23 of March, as part of the Greater Manchester Live Well Spring Festival.

Events are part of Greater Manchester’s Live Well Spring Festival, a two-week, city region-wide celebration of the people, places, and partnerships growing and bringing Live Well to life.

There are no single festival site and no barriers. Instead, the festival unfolds through a series of pop-ups in different spaces.

  • Friday 13 March – 11am-3pm at Birch Lea Park, Hattersley (Age UK)
  • Friday 13 March – 11am-2pm – Real Rock Radio Community Pop-up in Ashton
  • Through the week of Monday 16th of March – The Mental Health Library
  • Tuesday 17 March – 10am-2pm - Functional Fitness MOT on Tour, Dukinfield Town Hall (Age UK)
  • Tuesday 17 March – 10am-12pm – Ashton Canal Ideas Walk
  • Wednesday 18 March – 10am-2pm - Chatty Bus by Go Northwest and Tameside and Glossop NHS Charity
  • Wednesday 18 March – 11am-2pm – Beyond Goodbye by Finding Rainbows in Ashton-Under-Lyne
  • Wednesday 18 March – 1pm-4pm – Children’s Community Market Place at Cedar Park, Ashton-Under-Lyne.
  • Thursday 19 March – 10am-12:30pm- Functional Fitness MOT on Tour, Richmond Community Centre
  • Saturday 21 March – 10am -4pm - Emmaus Spring Fayre in Mossley
  • Saturday 21 March – 1pm-4pm – Community Green Open Day by LEAP at Dukinfield Allotment
  • Monday 23 March – 9:30am-12noon – St Gabriel’s Community Group in Ashton-Under-Lyne

Each pop-up is unique and reflects the strengths, creativity, and energy of local neighbourhoods and communities whilst rooting itself in one or more of the Big Four Festival Stages.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Adult Social Care Cllr John Taylor said: “It’s amazing to see community groups and organisations across Tameside get involved with the Live Well Spring Festival, they’re truly bringing live well to life.

“What’s great is that no matter the event, all are welcome to take part and there’s so much going on across the whole of Greater Manchester. A big thanks to everyone involved.’’

Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing Cllr Taf Sharif said: “I encourage residents to take part in the Live Well Spring Festival; there’s something for everyone! From walking activities, functional fitness MOTs and boarding the Chatty Bus there’s so many opportunities to connect with other people and get active.

“Please don’t forget, events across Greater Manchester are open to all and accessible by bus, tram or train.’’
