Determined fundraiser Craig Dalton has raised more than £6,000 as he takes on the ‘Miles for Macmillan’ challenge.
The charity is close to Craig’s heart, with one of his family members having terminal cancer.
He therefore set out with family and friends to complete a series of challenges covering a total distance of 200 miles
Already they have run the Paris marathon and hiked through Scotland, Wales and England while biking it to Blackpool, on top of an ultra-marathon covering 50 miles at the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
It doesn’t stop there though, with Craig’s next challenge to take part in The Tour event. The Tour involves an X Trail, Hell on the Fell, half marathon on the Longendale Trail, finishing with the Dr Ron 7 in Hyde.
“After The Tour, I’m doing the Three Peaks,” declared Craig.
To end the challenge and achieve the 200-mile target, Craig will be undertaking the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride - a distance of 60 miles.
According to the NHS, one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Macmillan cancer research offers support to patients and their loved ones, but with the number of people living with cancer continuing to grow, support is always needed.
“Each challenge will push us to our limits, testing both our mental and physical ability,” he says.
Craig has a GoFundMe page and you can donate at https://www.justgiving.com/page/macmillan25?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL&utm_campaign=015
He has also been supported and sponsored by his workplace, John Southworth’s Builders.
