Tameside man covering 200 miles for MacMillan

Craig Dalton is taking on the Miles for Macmillan challenge for a family member, and has so far raised over £6,000.

As part of the challenge, he is doing a series of challenges that cover 200 miles.

Craig along with a few of his family and friends are running through Paris, hiking through Scotland, Wales and England and biking it to Blackpool.

The challenge started in April with the Paris marathon.

Craig has then also completed an ultra-marathon covering 50 miles at the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The next part of Craig’s challenge is in June when he is taking part in our The Tour event.

He will be running through his hometown for the four-day event which will cover over 31 miles.

The Tour involves an X Trail, Hell on the Fell, half marathon on the Longendale trail finishing with the Dr Ron 7 in Hyde.

“After The Tour of Tameside, I’m doing the three peaks, which is obviously Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden.”

For the three peaks challenge Criag and the team have 24 hours to hike up all mountains.

To end the challenge and get to 200 miles, Craig will be doing the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride, tackling 60 miles.

According to the NHS, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.

Macmillan cancer research offer support to patients and their loved ones at every stage of their cancer experience. The number of people living with cancer continues to grow meaning the existing support services are struggling to cope.

MacMillan are funded by 98% donations.

“With this in mind, I want to bring old faces together and push our limits to raise money for Macmillan. Each challenge will push us to our limits, testing both our mental and physical ability. We will be recording our journey which we invite you to follow.”

MacMillan is a charity close to Craig’s heart as one of his family members has terminal cancer.

Craig has a GoFundMe set up where he has raised over £6,000 for the charity.

He has also been supported and sponsored by his workplace John Southworth’s Builders.
