Tameside jobs fair draws crowds

A lively jobs fair at Dukinfield Town Hall attracted a strong turnout today (April 1), bringing together employers and jobseekers from across Tameside and Greater Manchester.

Speaking at the event, Aaron Middlehurst, project manager for employment and skills at Tameside council, said: “This is great because it brings everybody - employers and people looking for work and training - together.”

The fair got off to a busy start shortly after opening, with all stalls filled and a wide range of organisations present. “It’s really nice to see that it started off nice and busy since we just opened a short time ago,” Aaron added. “There’s loads of great employers here today, all the stalls are full.”

The event caters for people at all stages of their careers, from those out of work to experienced professionals. “No matter what level you’re at or what stage you’re at, it’s great to come and get some support.

“If you’re currently in work and just looking for a new job, or if you’re a professional looking for a new role, we have professional engineering roles here.”

As well as job opportunities, visitors could access practical support, including help with CVs. “Your CV is what gets you that first step into an employer,” they said. “Being able to impress them with that CV is what gets you to an interview.”

Support teams, including the National Careers Service and the council’s Work Well team, were also on hand to offer advice throughout the day.
