Low-income families across Tameside are being invited to attend a series of drop-in sessions this October to get face-to-face help with applying to the Household Support Fund.
The sessions, organised by Tameside Council, will take place throughout the month at Tameside One in Ashton-under-Lyne and Hattersley Library, offering direct support with applications for help towards food and energy costs.
The Household Support Fund is designed to assist eligible residents who are struggling with the cost of living. At each session, council staff will be available to guide people through the application process, offer advice, and answer any questions about the support available.
The sessions will be held at:
Tameside One, Level One, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6GS - Thursdays: 16 October, 23 October, 30 October – 8:30am to 4pm
Hattersley Library, The Hub, Stockport Road, Hattersley, SK14 6NT - Tuesdays: 14 October, 28 October – 1pm to 4pm
Cllr Hugh Roderick, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Finance and Resources, said: “We know things are tough right now with costs going up, and these drop-in sessions are a simple way for people to get help through the Household Support Fund. Our team will be there to walk residents through it and make the whole thing as easy as possible.”
The Household Support Fund forms part of the council’s wider commitment to supporting residents through the cost-of-living crisis. It aligns with Tameside Council’s Corporate Plan priority of building strong communities and reducing inequalities.
