Tameside and Glossop nurses in the running for 2025 Nursing Times Awards

Three nursing teams from Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have been shortlisted across four categories at the 2025 Nursing Times Awards.

The integrated critical care research programme has been nominated for the Clinical Research Nursing Award. The team carry out research ranging from small-scale studies to large, international clinical trials, including the recovery trial which tests multiple treatments for patients hospitalised with COVID-19. Their work has helped to answer important questions about the best ways to treat patients with life-threatening conditions, which will benefit other critically ill patients in the future.

The Aspirant Cancer and Education Development (ACCEND) international nurse development project has been nominated for the Dame Elizabeth Anionwu Award for Inclusivity in Nursing and Midwifery. Run by Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance, the ACCEND project provides career guidance, education, training and development opportunities for nurses, allied health professionals and pharmacists who care for people affected by cancer.

The blended roles programme has been nominated for two awards, the Nursing in the Community Award and The King’s Award for Integrated Approaches to Care. The blended roles programme led to the recruitment of the first ever blended roles facilitator in Greater Manchester. The delegation works across both health and social care services to empower, educate and implement the programme, which helps upskill carers. The continued support of the district nursing teams has improved working relationships and communication between services for patients.

Tameside and Glossop IC NHS FT Chief Nurse Jacqui Burrow said: “I am delighted to see our nursing teams getting recognition for all their hard work, which I am incredibly proud of and grateful for.

These projects are each helping to make nursing more inclusive and innovative, ultimately leading to better care for our patients.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday 22 October 2025.
