Residents interested in a rewarding career in adult social care are being invited to attend a series of upcoming recruitment sessions in Tameside, where they can learn more about becoming a support worker and meet the team behind the service.
Tameside Council’s Reablement Service is hosting the sessions at Wilshaw House in Ashton-under-Lyne, offering people the chance to explore job opportunities within a vital service that helps residents regain independence after illness or a stay in hospital.
The Reablement Service provides short-term, non-chargeable support in people’s own homes for up to six weeks. The aim is to help individuals rebuild confidence, relearn skills, and return to living as independently as possible.
Support workers play a key role in this process, working closely with individuals to help them achieve personal goals. The role involves building strong relationships and taking a creative approach to supporting people, promoting independence, choice and resilience.
Anyone interested in the role is encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:
- Tuesday 31 March 2026 – 6.30pm to 7.30pm
- Tuesday 7 April 2026 – 12 noon to 1pm
During the sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with team members, ask questions about the role, and find out more about what a career in social care involves. Those interested can apply on the day and will be contacted if shortlisted for interview.
The events will also highlight potential career progression routes, including opportunities to move into senior roles such as Senior Support Worker, Patch Co-ordinator, Assessor, and management positions. Guidance will also be provided on how individuals can work towards qualifying as a Social Worker.
