Cosmo Bingo, in Stalybridge, played host to the Dukinfield Sumos aiming to raise £500 last weekend.
Cosmo Bingo held a Willow Wood Hospice weekend, with the return of the famous ‘Singing Sumos’. They smashed their target of £500 and raised an impressive £1,370.00 from bucket collections and bingo games held by Cosmo over the May Bank Holiday.
Cosmo Bingo General Manager at Stalybridge Keith Lee said: “We are blown away by the generosity of Cosmo members and the efforts of the Dukinfield Sumos. Willow Wood Hospice holds a special place in the hearts of our members and the money raised is a measure of that. We’ve had lots of laughter as the Sumo’s get up to their antics and many thanks to them and our great workers and members.”
Sumos, Brian Wild and Chris Smith, have been fundraising for the hospice for over 20 years.
Former Tameside mayor and Dukinfield councillor, Brian Wild said: “The Cosmo Bingo team and members are tremendous people and the stories I’ve heard, from members, this weekend of just how often Willow Wood Hospice has positively touched the lives of many families of Glossop and Tameside. He added, ‘The hospice relies on fundraising, charity shops, donations, legacies and grants for the rest. So, a big thanks to all contributors.”
Willow Wood Hospice is an adult Hospice providing specialist palliative care for patients with life limiting illnesses, both cancer and non-cancer diagnosis.
