
A wide variety of exciting activities and events have been lined up across the summer in Tameside, including Family Fun Days, Summer Theatre sessions and story-themed walks.
Teams across Tameside Council have put together a jam-packed programme featuring loads of fantastic events and fun activities, with many of them being free of charge.
Ranging from historical activities, creative arts sessions and cultural events, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the coming summer holidays. There will also be lots of one-of-a-kind sessions, where residents and visitors can try something new and tap into their creative side.
Activities are being held all over the borough, in key event spaces, attractions, community venues including Family Hubs, libraries and local parks.
Portland Basin Museum will be celebrating the August Bank Holiday (Monday, August 25, 11am-3pm) with a welcoming Family Jamboree. It is set to be a brilliant day of free performances and activities including live music performances, circus skills and puppet shows.
The seaside will also be arriving in Stalybridge with the arrival of a family-friendly pop-up beach which will be at the Civic Hall from the week beginning Monday, August 17. It will bring with it some amazing activities for kids, with puppet workshops, dancing, games and seaside themed crafts.
Popular themed Make, Do and Play creative sessions, will also be held at Portland Basin, every Tuesday (from July 29 – August 28) and select Thursdays.
Summer Theatre Sessions will be held to bring a vibrant lineup of interactive performances to parks and venues, including Puppet Adventures and Time Travelling Tales.
Portland Basin Museum will be hosting a ‘Victory!’, which is a Second World War themed event, on July 30, for all the family to come along. There will also be an ‘Our Museum Day’ on August 7.
Each of Tameside’s Family Hubs will be hosting Family Fun Days where everybody is welcome, 1pm-4pm:
- Monday, July 28 – Hyde Family Hub (South)
- Monday, August 4 – Ridge Hill Family Hub (East)
- Wednesday, August 13 – Greenside Family Hub (West)
- Thursday, August 14 – St Peters Family Hub (North)
