Police and the fire brigade have warned people to take precautions as Storm Eowyn hits the North West.
Gusts of up to 60mph expected to across Greater Manchester and High Peak throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "Check for loose items outside and consider how you could secure them in high winds such as bins, plant pots, garden furniture.
"Bring items inside where possible and secure bigger items such as trampolines."
